Our Response to the Mud-slide Tragedy in Motemeh, Regent

On August 14, 2017, tragedy struck the community of Motemeh in Regent, Sierra Leone, as a devastating mud-slide claimed the lives of many, leaving countless families displaced and in need of urgent assistance. In the face of this catastrophic event, Sierra Leone Friends of Humanity (SLFOH) quickly mobilized to extend a helping hand to those affected by providing essential support in the form of food supplies, clothing, and counseling.

As we believe in helping those in need, our dedicated team of 10 volunteer staff members sprang into action, demonstrating a commitment to assisting the community during their time of need. With hearts full of compassion and a strong sense of duty, our volunteers worked tirelessly to ensure that vital resources and support were delivered promptly to those most affected by the tragedy.

SLFOH’s involvement in providing food supplies offered relief to families struggling to meet their basic needs in the wake of the disaster. We recognized the importance of not only addressing immediate hunger but also ensuring that affected individuals had access to nutritious meals during this challenging period.

In addition to providing essential items such as clothing, our organization also emphasized the significance of emotional well-being by offering counseling services counseling grappling with the ttrimmedslidemud-slide. Our compassionate volunteers lent a listening ear, provided comfort, and facilitated healing conversations to support the mental health of community members facing unimaginable loss.
